Blog Post #2
Throughout school, I have used Microsoft Word
a countless amount of times for writing papers, homework, projects, resumes,
etc. from elementary school to college. Not only for class, but I have used Microsoft
Word to create flyers for clubs, portfolio for my competitive event, and design
layouts for outlines. To extend my knowledge on the software so I can understand
Word and all its settings, in High School I learned the programming and became
certified as a Microsoft specialist. I have seen my teachers use Word to type
up outlines and assignments for the class.
Although I have not had much serious experience
with copyright other than adding pictures from google images to work, using
music or sometimes articles, I see with the advancement in technology it’s easier
to copyright but also identify copyright. In a learning environment, it may be
hard, but important for teachers and students to use their own work, when
teachers use worksheet, tests, or projects from other teachers online, it is
easy for the students to find the answer key. After listening to the Copyright
Fair Use podcast, I now realize the extend copyright goes it. I usually think
of copyright as just copying someone else’s paper not just copying a page from
a textbook or adding pictures from the internet to PowerPoints or etc.
As a teacher one of the issues that I would implement
for in my classroom is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is becoming a big issue in today’s
society with growing technology. I would use my guidance as a teacher to teach
my students what cyberbullying is, what effects it has, and how to avoid it. I
want to help children understand that what they say can hurt others. Another
issue I would implement in my classroom is protecting the student’s safety and
privacy. Whether it is me, another teacher, or students, children’s personal information
is available and I think it's important to ensure each child’s safety in
keeping personal information private. The last issue I would implement is academic
honesty. I think that teaching children right away what is right and wrong to
do on the internet is important, and being in a place where many children are
first introduced to the technology it is the best way to start.
