I picked Florida State University Schools as the website I visited to look at class pages because that is the Elementary School I go to for observing. The school website was easy to use, I went to the Elementary School department and picked a Kindergarten grade teacher, Ms. Broome. Her website consists of multiple pages of information. There was a welcome page, about the teacher page, general information page, weekly newsletters, monthly snack calendars, homework, and an online resource page. Each page had information for parents and students to learn more about Ms. Broome and her classroom. In the welcome page and about teacher page, it included information about her background and her contact information. The general information page includes her class schedule, field trip dates, and curriculum maps. The weekly newsletter and snack calendars are pages for the parents to informed on what their child needs and is doing. I found Ms. Broome’s website very organized and informative.
How I envision myself in using technology to accomplish professional responsibilities more efficiently and effectively, is using tools that help have an organized, accessible, and community classroom. After listening to the podcast, I now know some tips and tools to achieve these responsibilities. Such as keeping files digital to help them be easily accessible, easy to edit, and easy to share. Using email and online publications allows for my classroom to become connected with parents. And having planned and recorded lesson plans to stay on topic and organized. These are just some ways to use tools to increase effectiveness in my classroom.

Last week when we visited the technology sandbox I was able to learn new technologies and their features that are used in the classroom. A tool I experienced that I would love to use in my classroom is the Google Osmo, which is a tool to have an interactive game with physical pieces and onscreen app. I had never seen this software before but I found it an extremely interesting way for children to work together on a table while having the fun of playing a video game, and also very educational games. Another tool that I learned about at the Sandbox was the SMARTBoard, even though I have heard of this tool and used it, I was introduced to new features that I did not know existed. I learned about how there are online files and lesson plans, 3D software, and the different use of the pens. This tool could easily be used in a classroom to help the teachers and the students to work more efficiently. The lesson plans help so teachers do not always have to recreate activities for subjects that are already created. Plus, the touchscreen technology with interactive educational games are great for students to use in the classroom.
